AN MGA SIDAY NI MAYOK

An Mga Siday Ni Mayok is a compilation of poems written in Waray-waray by the author himself. Waray-waray, also called as Lineyte-Samarnon, is an Austronesian language native to the islands of Leyte, Samar, and Biliran, which together comprises the Eastern Visayas Region of the Philippines. Siday is the Waray-waray term for poetry.

Mario “Mayok” Narrido is a native of San Miguel, Leyte and the first-born among four siblings. Raised from a humble family, he grew up making money on his own to upkeep his studies. Aside from making his classmates’ projects and by joining all the contests at school, he also joined several siday writing contests just to earn money. When his first siday entitled ‘Demand-Driven nga Statistika, Aton Kinahanglanon’ won the grand prize title during the 19th National Statistics Month ‘Siday’ Writing Contest in November 2008 held at the Philippine Information Agency, Regional Office 8, Tacloban City, he then fell in love with siday writing and decided to write more. Thus, this masterpiece.

To my parents, Tatay Melchor and Nanay Lucenda, who fostered my creativity…

To my siblings, Mylene, Mariale, and Marlon, who unveiled the Mr. Responsible in me…

To my daughter, Einn Vida, who will always be the reason of the father I have become…

To my nephew, James Sebastian, who proved I can be a good Uncle…

And to the strongest person I know, me…

THANK YOU FOR THE ACCEPTANCE!

Not your ordinary poems.

If God hated gays, He’d stop creating so many.
